What the parents say

Previously my son, and now my daughter have attended this nursery. It is now not the closest nursery to us but I have been so happy with it I wouldn’t consider putting them anywhere else. It’s clean, in a quiet location, incredibly well run and the children are engaged and happy. At the end of my son’s time here, he was well prepared for heading off to reception – it gave him a flying start. My daughter was so happy in the baby unit and now loves Buttercups. When occasionally there is a wobble when I leave, the staff are attentive and always around to give cuddles. The activities are varied and there seems plenty of time for outside play. The food looks great and has encouraged my picky-eater to try more variety. Management are friendly and amazingly flexible and accommodating with the extra days I have occasionally requested. It’s a lovely place for children to spend their early years – everyone should have a nursery like this!

Since our daughter started at Blois Meadow one year ago, she has come on in leaps and bounds with her speech and communication. She is growing up to be a very sociable little girl and I truly believe Blois Meadow has had a big helping hand in this. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming to our daughter when she arrives and I always feel reassured she is in the best care whilst she is there. She loves her time at nursery and I would recommend Blois Meadow to all parents looking for a safe, fun, creative and educational environment for their children.

Zoe Clark – May 2016

My twin daughters have been at Blois Meadow Day Nursery since January 2013 – being first in the Bluebell (baby) room and now coming to the end of their time in the Poppy (2-3 years) room. This is their second nursery and the fourth we have used in total, having an older child too. Overall, everything about Blois Meadow has impressed me – from the first time I spoke to Alison on the phone. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and you feel like you are leaving your children in the care of close friends.

The nursery is clean, continually being updated with new ideas and play things. Everywhere you look, there is something stimulating. Our daughters have been taught the importance of hand washing but not at the detriment of having fun and getting messy. When minor accidents occur, the hand over to parents is very detailed and of high quality.

When you drop your children off in the morning, you are always greeted with a smile from the staff who give you confidence, even when you have to leave a crying toddler, that after a cuddle and a story everything will be fine. At pick-up time you are again greeted with smiles and nothing is ever too much bother, even a quick nappy change before a helping hand to get to the car. The daily briefing and handover become less detailed as children get older, although still giving you the salient points – dirty nappies and food intake – giving the children independence to express their day themselves, in the presence of the staff.  There also seem to be excellent handovers between staff.

Communication on a wider level with parents is excellent too, with newsletters sent by e-mail and paper copies displayed at nursery. Weekly briefings are also posted on the noticeboard, so you always know if your child’s key person is on holiday or off site for another reason.

Blois Meadow allows children to become independent people and treats them all as individuals – something that I have noticed is especially important, having twins. Whenever you arrive at the nursery, although many different activities may be going on, all the children look engaged and happy. My girls have developed a wide and expressive vocabulary, have dexterity in fine tasks such as using scissors and love trying to teach me the new songs they have learnt. Being in a rural setting, this is embraced with a firm focus on nature and the outside environment. Bug hunts are a firm favourite.

At a recent Open Day, I was lucky enough to try some of the home cooked food produced on site – delicious! It was also a treat to see the children sitting and eating together in a very controlled fashion. The menus are varied and healthy and change with the seasons and my girls never seem hungry after a day at nursery.

Alison and Ross run an excellent team and I have not found a single cause for complaint. Blois Meadow is a very well run, high quality nursery that gives a fun, friendly environment for children to grow and develop.  It feels like an extension of home, with capacity for all forms of play (clean, messy, wet, dry, sandy, indoor, outdoor and quiet). I am happy and confident leaving our girls in their care and couldn’t wish for a better nursery.

Since joining Blois Meadow, my daughter is so much more confident in herself, the change has been amazing. This is a credit to all the staff as they are fantastic and we feel that they really take pride in the job that they do. Every milestone my little one makes they are all as proud as we are as parents.

For a busy nursery with lots of kids running around, I am amazed at the cleanliness. The girls are always cleaning the floors when I go in to pick up my little one. I like the way the staff encourage the children to tidy up. My little girl regularly sings her class tidy up song.

Blois Meadow is an excellent nursery in all aspects of care, communication and stimulation for children. We can’t speak highly enough of the nursery. Our little girl has come on leaps and bounds since joining. We are so pleased that we chose Blois Meadow.  We will have no hesitations about placing our little boy into the nursery when we are ready for him to join.

After being with this nursery for nearly 10 years before and after the change in ownership, we can say that we have seen the amazing progress that it has made. What we appreciate the most is the fact that the children always sing on the way to nursery, they enjoy every minute there and have a lovely relationship with the staff, who are welcoming and professional . It is impressive how this nursery transforms any circumstance into a learning source. I strongly feel that this nursery has looked after our family as a whole rather than just the children. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The staff at Blois Meadow are fantastic.  They are always interested in the children and happy in their work.   And this comes from the top.  Alison, and her deputy Helen, have so much experience and set a wonderful example

Very impressed with everything. The changes to the layout, position of rooms, entrance and exit uses – the attention to detail is brilliant. It’s obvious there are strong health & safety and child welfare considerations being made. Even the hooks for the children have been changed to be safer. The commitment and passion is obvious. The signage is the first thing you see and even that is professional and shows that a well managed and well marketed day nursery is open.  It’s organised, structured and the management are giving so much more back to the business, which in effect means giving back to parents and that’s so important. We are very happy and my mind is totally at rest with the whole situation. Well done to Ross and Alison – they have worked so hard in such a short space of time (weekends and evenings) and I have no doubt the nursery will be a huge success once other parents get to hear about it!

I’m so pleased Ross and Alison have taken over the nursery. The work they have done in such a short space of time is phenomenal. The baby sleep room is brilliant, the menu is better, the security and layout of the whole nursery is better. The staff are all much happier and look great in their new uniforms. My child has a muscular condition but is not made to feel outside of the normal day-to-day activities. He is fully integrated and that is so important. He is sleeping better and eating better and that makes such a difference to me. I think the turnaround is fantastic and has been done with such professionalism.

Relieved, excited, and completely thrilled with the whole thing. Everything has changed, from the cleanliness to the new layout which is so much better (formal entrance and set places to pick up from etc) – it is so much more professional. Even the food is better.  I am encouraged that my daughter’s personal development will be done at her pace, not set by age limits. The staff development needs to keep pace with the ambitions but I’m sure they will see more changes as a result of the change in ownership. Full marks so far!

Vicki Taylor, Steeple Bumpstead

Very impressed with all the changes. It has been quite dramatic but done well.  The staff seem much more motivated and the morale is much better. The kids seem to be singing more on the way to nursery which must be a good sign – although they have also shown a new interest in building and want to do some alterations at home!
