Prices, Terms and Conditions 2017
Sessions may be booked between 7am to 7pm on Mondays to Fridays throughout the year, with the exception of statutory holidays.
Refreshments are provided in each session: morning and full day sessions include a hot lunch. Vegetarian meals are available on request.
Our fees for each age group reflect the statutory staffing ratios with which we are obliged to comply. Basic hourly rates (effective from 1 January 2017) are as follows:

These rates are subject to a 50% increase for any time before 0800 or after 1800.

*The discounted rates for core sessions apply only where all the hours concerned are chargeable. Children of 3 and 4 (and eligible 2 year olds) are entitled to up to 570 hours per year of early education without charge: in these cases, the free entitlement hours are not charged for and all additional hours are charged at the relevant hourly rate.
Subject to availability, customised sessions, or extensions to any core session, may be booked in blocks of 30 minutes and will be charged at the relevant hourly rate. If a booking includes the whole of a core session, it will be charged at the rate for that core session, plus an hourly rate for any additional time. If a booking includes just part of a core session, it will be charged at the hourly rate throughout. Note that the hourly rate is increased by 50% for time before 0800 or after 1800.
Children attending full time (ie 0800-1800 on five days a week) benefit from a 10% reduction. Children attending for more than 30 hours per week but fewer than 50 hours benefit from a 5% reduction.
A 30% discount is available when brothers or sisters attend the nursery together: the discount is applied to the lower value booking(s) and continues for as long as there are two or more children attending the nursery.
Discounts are always calculated on the net fees remaining after any other discounts and/or free entitlement funding have been applied.
Starting in the school term following their third birthday, all children are entitled to 15 hours of free care and education during 38 weeks (corresponding to school terms) or to 11 hours spread over 52 weeks in each year. A free entitlement is also available to certain two year olds based on need (assessed broadly on the same basis as free school meals).
We offer a limited number of ‘funded only’ bookings consisting of 38 weeks of 15 hours each. Please ask us for details. We publish a list of the specific weeks in each year when these free entitlements are available: normal fees are payable outside these weeks.
Where children eligible for the free entitlement attend nursery throughout the year, the annual entitlement is spread over 52 weeks (11 hours per week). The free entitlement hours are not charged for and any additional hours are charged at the relevant hourly rate. No discounted core sessions are available in these cases.
The weekly limit on funded hours (11 or 15 as appropriate) is strictly applied and it is not possible to carry forward unused funding from one week to another.
The funding is paid to the nursery in order to enable it to provide the free entitlement: it is not the child’s funding. Thus if, after we have claimed funding for a term, a child leaves the nursery or reduces sessions below 15 hpw, the funding for that term does not follow the child but remains with the nursery.
Under present government proposals (the so-called ’30 hours extension’) an additional free entitlement of 570 hours per year will be made available at some point in 2017. This will be limited to couples where both parents are working (or to working lone parents) and subject to minimum and maximum income limits.
Tax relief for childcare costs is also available to working parents. Please ask us for the latest details.
Holidays and other absences
Unlike some nurseries, we do not reduce staff hours or impose layoffs when the number of children falls temporarily. As a result, no fee reductions are given for holidays or other absences, including absences due to illness. In the case of prolonged illness or other exceptional circumstances, parents/carers should discuss the matter with the nursery manager.
Similarly, while we will make every effort to keep the nursery open in the event of severe weather, power failure or other circumstances beyond our control, this cannot be guaranteed and fees remain payable.
Session swaps for occasional, unforeseen events (not family holidays) may be allowed without charge at our sole discretion. Both sessions involved must be in the same calendar month and must be capable of being accommodated without the need to bring in additional staff or rearrange shifts.
Sessions booked and paid for in advance are reserved and we therefore require four weeks’ notice to cancel a booking, to withdraw a child or to reduce the number of sessions. This notice must be in writing to be effective.
Full fees are payable during the period of notice, whether the child attends or not.
Registering your child
You may secure a place on our waiting list by completing a registration form. We charge a non-refundable fee of £25 on registration to cover administration costs.
As soon as we are able to offer your child a place, we will write to you with details. You must let us know, in writing, within two weeks, whether you wish to accept the offer. Your acceptance must be accompanied by a detailed enrolment form: we reserve the right to require a refundable deposit of two weeks’ fees (subject to a maximum of £200). This deposit will be refunded when your child leaves the nursery, provided adequate notice has been given and there are no arrears.
Fees are payable monthly in advance. In order to keep fees as low as possible, we insist on strict compliance with this policy.
Fees are calculated and payable based on the actual sessions booked for the month in question, less any statutory holidays on which the nursery is closed. Ad hoc additional sessions are invoiced a month in arrears and are payable at the start of the following month.
If parents wish to make a fixed monthly payment, we can calculate an appropriate amount based on estimated fees for the unexpired part of any calendar year but we reserve the right to vary this amount if fees or booking patterns change and/or to ask for advance payment to ensure that the account remains in balance or in credit at all times.
We require parents to inform us of any court orders or other matters which may affect access rights to their children.
Late collection charges
Late collection of children can distress them, and it causes considerable problems to us and to the staff, because we are obliged to operate to strict staffing ratios. We realise that problems will sometimes arise, but we reserve the right to charge an additional £5 per 15 minutes, or part thereof, if we consider that late collection is becoming a habit.
The nursery has a wide range of policies to cater for different situations: these are displayed in reception and a summary of key policies is given to parents on enrolment and published on our website. All parents are asked to familiarise themselves with these policies and are deemed to have read and accepted them by enrolling their children.
We are registered as a data controller under the Data Protection Act 1998. We collect information about children and use this personal data to:
– support their development
– monitor and report on their progress
– ensure that we receive the statutory funding for which we are eligible.
We are required by law to pass some information to local authorities and the Department for Education through the Free Early Education Entitlement headcount and annual Early Years Census. This information includes children’s name, date of birth, home address, the number of Free Entitlement hours accessed and personal characteristics such as ethnic group and special educational needs.
Parents who wish to see a copy of the information we hold and share about their children should contact the nursery manager.
Alteration of terms and conditions
We reserve the right to alter these terms and conditions, including fee rates, by giving four weeks written notice at any time. An email to the parent’s registered email address will be deemed to constitute written notice.
